How we verify

The sources, the review cycle and the honesty rules behind every page on this directory.

Reviewed against RECI guidance and installer-published documentation. Last verified: 2026-10-22.

Authoritative sources

  • RECI (Register of Electrical Contractors of Ireland) — public guidance on registered electrical contractors, safe isolation and certification: reci.ie.
  • ESB Networks — grid ownership, restoration process and PowerCheck: esbnetworks.ie.
  • Installer-published documentation — manufacturer manuals and installer service schedules for maintenance intervals and ratings.
  • Market reporting — Irish press and market reporting recorded after Storm Éowyn, used for demand narrative and indicative cost bands only.

Review cycle

Every page carries the statement "Reviewed against RECI guidance and installer-published documentation. Last verified: 2026-10-22." When sources or market conditions move — new grant schemes, new grid guidance, changed price bands — pages are re-verified and the date moves. Pages whose facts cannot be sourced do not ship.

Handling uncertainty

  • Anything not traceable to an authoritative source is labelled ASSUMPTION in the text — never presented as settled fact.
  • Cost figures are planning bands in EUR, not quotes; real quotes vary by site, size and switchgear.
  • Corrections are welcome and credited on request: see the contact page.

What we never publish

  • Installer endorsements, paid placements or affiliate links.
  • Grant claims — there is no SEAI grant for standby or portable generators.
  • Unsourced kVA, fuel-consumption or price figures.
