Storm-readiness check for standby generators

Twenty scored checks across power, fuel, household plan and information — the readiness rhythm Storm Éowyn taught Irish households.

Twenty questions in four groups, scored as you go. Built from the lessons of Storm Éowyn in January 2025, when 750,000+ Irish premises lost power and the households that came through best were serviced, fuelled and ready before the warning was issued. The full rationale is in the storm-season maintenance guide.

Scoring

0–39% — Unprepared: fix power/starting and fuel first; those two decide whether the set runs at all. 40–69% — Getting there: the common post-Éowyn profile — the machine is fine, the plan has holes. 70–99% — Nearly ready: close the remaining gaps before the next named storm. 100% — Storm-ready: hold the September reset every year and this stays true.
